Roosevelt Goes Green/ Environmental Science

Thursdays, 2:30- 4:30 PM

Teaches students about environmental awareness and involves students in cleaning and recycling in the building and school grounds. 

Magic The Gathering Club
Room 147
Tuesdays, 2:50- 5:00 PM

Teaches students how to play the collectible card game Magic The Gathering.  Students also learn about fair play and working together as a team.

Math Counts
Mr. Bobola & Mrs. DeOliveira, Room 264
Wednesdays, 2:30- 4:15 PM

Allows students to compete against friends, regional teams and other New Bedford middle schools.  Students learn to socialize and participate as a team while they learn math.  They play games, solve Rubix Cubes and win prizes and trophies.

Girls Who Code
Mrs. Sky, Room 324
Wednesdays, 2:45- 4:00 PM

Teaches girls the skills of computer coding, a high paying career with a shortage of female coders.  The club will give girls an introduction to skills and a career path to coding

Tying on Success

Monday- Thursday, 2:45- 5:00 PM

Teaches male student leadership skills it is intended for boys interested in becoming responsible members of society.  Students learn good decision-making and social skills and enhance their self-esteem. 

Lego Robotics and Mindstorms

Tuesdays, 2:45- 4:00 PM

This is a new after school program, where students build with Legos, computer program their creations and compete in Mindstorm challenges. 

Leading Señoritas

Designed to enhance self-esteem, develop pride and prepare female students for the future. Students also work on managing their behavior to prepare for the future. 

SeaPerch
Ms. Dunlop, Room 318
Thursdays, 2:45- 4:15 PM

Students will build an underwater robot from simple parts.  They will learn how to use tools, measure and test voltage. They can even customize their robot to compete in a yearly robotics competition. 

After School Homework & Tutoring Club
Ms. Monte
Students receive help with homework and assignments; students will also help other students with homework and assignments. 

Chess Club

Fridays, 2:45- 3:15

Students learn to play chess, a game of strategy, and compete with one another in tournament style events.

Spotlight Squad

Students will create entertainment for the building to be seen by their peers and staff, including a Mr. & Mrs Roosevelt, staff and student performances etc.

Youth Venture
Mr. Bobola, Room 215
Mondays, 2:45- 4:00 PM 

Helps students make change in their neighborhood.  Examples include: Helping the HomelessNeighborhood Clean Up SquadThe Wheelers (a bike rental group), and Marine Life Adventures (saving endangered species)

Yearbook Club

Students will collaborate to create the 2018~2019 RMS Yearbook.  They will participate in various activities, including but not limited to designing cover pages, insert pages, photographing school events and clubs, and creating advertisements. 

Student Council

Showcases RMS student leaders.  The Student Council works on the Halloween Dance, Veteran's Day Assembly, Black History & Holocaust Book Fairs and the Talent Show.  

Scary Movie Club

Fridays (every other), 2:45- 4:30 PM

Film club dedicated to the horror genre.  Students will watch a movie and then discuss the different aspects of film, such as cinematography, theme and irony.

SSC Resource
Mr. Santos, Library
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2:30- 3:30 PM

Students will have access to academic support with the use of computers and printers to complete school assignments.  

LGBTQ Club
Ms. LeFort, Room 233
Wednesdays, 2:30- 3:15

Students will discuss issues and current events surrounding the LGBTQ Community.  They will create and organize projects to bring awareness to the school. ALL students welcome!
