HARVEST FOR HOPE

Roosevelt food drive for Thanksgiving a big success!

Staff and students at Roosevelt Middle School were issued a fundraising challenge this fall for Thanksgiving, and like they do with so many challenges, they came through big time!

Students from Purple House stand with their floor's Harvest for Hope donations. As part of Harvest for Hope, the three houses at Roosevelt (Green, Purple and Blue) were challenged to donate specific food items to help provide full Thanksgiving meals for 40 families in need. Those items and a generous donation from Lisa DaCosta-Lopez from Costa Brothers Masonry, who will fund turkeys for the meals this year, will help make Thanksgiving more special for many families.

Slowly and steadily, day by day, the houses' tables near the main office at Roosevelt stacked higher and higher with donated packages of stuffing, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. Each donation was a symbol of Roosevelt's care and compassion for its community.

As a bonus, the house with the most donations (yet to be determined!) will get to participate in a dodgeball game against teachers and staff on Roosevelt's soccer field.

Thank you to all who donated for Harvest for Hope!

We, at Roosevelt Middle School, “Where ALL Kids Succeed!” envision that, in partnership with our school-community, we will provide all students with a middle school program which meets the unique needs of preadolescents. We will emphasize academics and cognitive development, while recognizing and addressing the social-emotional and physiological characteristics of our developing preadolescent students.

Message from principal Bossolt

Message from principal

Welcome to Roosevelt Middle School! I am Dan Bossolt, the proud principal of RMS, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website.

As the principal, I am honored to be part of a faculty and staff that is committed to working together to provide the best education they can for the students who attend here. This is accomplished through our focus on literacy and creating an academically rigorous learning environment that promotes college and career goals through standards-driven curriculum and student-centered interaction. We also pride ourselves on our social and emotional approaches and whole child philosophy of education.

We believe that each child needs to be challenged and supported academically and socially/emotionally, so that they can develop into a lifelong learner and content young adult. We have three priorities that focus our work:

  • Foster a culture of trust in which leaders, staff, families, and students are united
  • Establish systematic collaborative data analysis for student achievement
  • Focus on student analysis and inquiry across all content areas
These priorities have guided our work, and because of this, we have established Roosevelt as one of the best middle schools in the SouthCoast of Massachusetts. Please take a minute to explore our website for more information.
