IB Learner Profile

Introduction to the IB Learner Profile

At the heart of the IB MYP philosophy lies the learner profile, encompassing ten attributes that guide students toward becoming responsible, compassionate, and lifelong learners. These attributes include Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

How We Embrace the Learner Profile at RMS

Roosevelt Middle School actively cultivates the IB Learner Profile attributes within our students. Our educators seamlessly integrate these principles into daily lessons and activities, encouraging students to pose questions, explore new ideas, and take ownership of their learning. Through various initiatives and projects, we foster an environment that promotes open-mindedness, empathy, and a commitment to making positive contributions to the community.

Roosevelt Middle School is a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program and we are excited to share that we are pursuing IB World authorization. These are schools that share a common philosophy, a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that New Bedford Public Schools and the Roosevelt School Community believe is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programs:

  • Primary Years Program (PYP)
  • Middle Years Program (MYP)
  • Diploma Program (DP)
  • Career-related Program (CP)
